Coast Guard Tin Can Bay performs a vital safety function in waters stretching from Indian Head on Fraser Island, south to Double Island Point and extending around 50 nautical miles seaward.

It is in everyone's interests to have an effective and viable Coast Guard service located at Tin Can Bay.

The development application shows the service remaining in its current location. The developer has offered berthing facilities to be provided at the developer's cost.

Both groups also are investigating ways to assist the service and make its operations more efficient and cost effective.
